Who is Underdog Trivia?
Underdog started back in 2001 in Seattle running flag football leagues for everyday players. Since 2001, we’ve grown to run softball, kickball, dodgeball, volleyball leagues and much much more in both the Seattle and Portland areas. We’ve always focused on making sure that even if you’re not good at sports that you have an outlet for it.
Over that time, we’ve also run large scale corporate events for companies. From summer barbeques and Olympiads to December holiday parties to inter-office tournaments and leagues. We always aimed to break the social silos that form within a company and helped make a ton of friendships and improve retention in many many companies.
So…we know fun and how to facilitate it.
In 2020, with people not being able to get out like they used to, we found that people still wanted the special combination of socialization, competition and laid-back fun that we have come to provide. So, we started Underdog Trivia.
Starting trivia…. sounds easy right? Well, it took us a little time to debut and get the formula right because we wanted to make sure the experience was right for all the players.
There were plenty of services out there where you’d download an app and answer the questions from there. They’d aggregate your scores and go from there. You’d never see or interact with your teammates. You might as well just play solitaire on your phone.
Others would have you in a Facebook live group, the only person who would talk would be the moderator and you couldn’t even interact with them.
We aimed to make sure that you got to see and hang out with your friends.
So, we started with breakout rooms. People got to hang out and talk for 90% of the game with the people that mattered to them.
We then went in and combined that with the things we learned from years of corporate events. Things like team formation, team name icebreakers, Team pictures that live on for years and live standings and scoring.
So…who are we? We’re a small business that knows how to create fun and connect people and that’s just what we do with Underdog Trivia.
